Congress / NYState legislature / Taxes / Health Care

I recently attended a public meeting with my NYS representative and responded to a survey by my Congressmen. In both cases their attitude appears to be that they will help me by obtaining some of MY tax money by bargaining with other representatives, or by eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in the system (bureaucracy) they support. Really!

Reducing my taxes that I might take care of my own business was simply unbelievable to the representative and audience. Likewise, to eliminate the bureaucracy rather than eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in the system is not an option. Tort reform - not this time.

I'll take care of my own business; I know how to spend my money. Get rid of the higher government intrusions and unnecessary regulations.

Reduce the size of the state & federal governments.

Maybe we will have life, liberty, and our own pursuit of happiness, again.

Right on Uncle Sam!

We desperately need less taxes. There are many people in the U.S. who are simply not making ends meet.

I completely agree that politicians need to focus on reducing the size of government before all other options. Over the past decade, it doesn't seem to matter which party is in power - the government just keeps getting bigger. This definitely needs to change.

One of the things I have noticed is that state initiatives and referendums have been gaining popularity over the last 10 years or so. The unfortunate thing is that after government-limiting laws get passed by the people, the politicians go in and suspend the rules, or try to get the thing overturned - then, they go off and continue to spend and make government bigger.

In Washington state, the legislature and governor suspended Initiative 960, which limited the level of taxation allowed by lawmakers. They completely they disregarded the will of the people and just did business as usual. Truly unfortunate!

I hate to sound like a broken record but until we get a new National party in place, nothing will change, taxes will keep going up and the size of all bureaucracies, at all levels will continue to grow.
