by: tpaine2009...[2/8/2010 7:16:00 AM]
Obviously some of the criteria that define a subprime borrower such as past defaults, bankruptcies and foreclosures don’t apply to the United States as a borrower; but yet others do and they are right on point.

by: chinaczar...[2/6/2010 11:58:00 PM]
During WWII, the Japanese conquered the entire eastern seaboard of China. Every port from Hong Kong to Harbin was in the hand of Japanese forces. President Roosevelt promised Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek military support to avoid total Chinese defeat.

In 1942, the allies were left with no over land or over sea route to China. The result was a 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week airlift from Assam ...

PIGS - The Acronym that stands for potential financial disaster
by: tpaine2009...[2/5/2010 6:09:00 AM]

The acronym stands for Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain. This acronym was started by British bankers. These four countries have public debt above or headed for 100% of GDP.

If you look at sovereign debt, there are risks in every direction. Some financial analysts argue that Japan is VERY high risk, others that the PIGS are ready to topple first, and so on.
