 | | | | | | | This effort of one of our totally braindead, ineffective out-of-touch political geniuses, Felix W. Ortiz, is so typical of the moronic behavior in the NYS legislature.
They can't pass a budget, they can't agree on anything!
What does Assemblyman Felix W. Ortiz look like - in terms of bodymass? Does he need to cut out salt and wants everyone to suffer with him?
Maybe if his constituants wise up and kick his a** out of office he'll apply for the job of New York State Food Police Superintendent. I hear the job will pay 100 grand and all you can eat!
To those of you lucky enough to live outside NYS, now you why our middle and upper classes are leaving as fast as they can.
FYI: At one time Syracuse NY was known as the "Salt Capital of the World" - I'll bet fatso didn't know that!

| | | | Felix W. Ortiz is out of touch with reality and just providing a diversion for the NYS legislature's inability to provide a budget.
Uncle Sam Wilson, as did many meat packers is the 1700's, used salt as a preservative. And Europe was forever changed when fishermen were able to salt the cod caught off North America’s Grand Banks, preserving them for sale in Europe. Roman soldiers were paid partly in salt, their salarium, today’s “salary.”
Salt, used in solution, known as saline solution, is commonly used as an intravenous (IV) infusion, administered through an IV drip for patients who have become severely dehydrated and to prevent dehydration in patients who cannot consume liquids and nutrients by mouth.
I remember taking a salt tablet years ago when involved in summer sports. But now Gatorade has taken over.
I guess Rep Ortiz doesn't want us to be referred to as "the salt of the world." "You are the salt of the world. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty again? It's good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled on by people." |

 | | | | | | | This guy is well educated, served in the military with honor and might well be a mainstream politician, not really sure, but looks like it.
This crap about salt is so stupid; his motive may just be "press time". Too bad he can't answer on iPolitics, I'd like to hear his reasoning so I could rip him a new you know what!
From his official bio:
"In 2001, Assemblyman Ortiz was appointed to serve as Chair of the Assembly Task Force on Food Farm and Nutrition Policy. He worked to provide farmers with economic relief in 2002 by passing a law requiring schools to purchase locally grown produce. In October 2003, Assemblyman Ortiz was presented with the Anne B. Gennings Award from the New York State School Food Services Association in recognition of his efforts on behalf of local farmers and school children from farming communities across the state.
That same year, Assemblyman Ortiz passed New York’s first Statewide Child Obesity Education Program law which ensures that nutritionally based education programs be a part of every classroom. In 2004, he passed a law to create five eating disorder centers across the state to help those who suffer from illnesses such as anorexia and bulimia. He continues the fight to pass laws mandating that fast food restaurants post the nutritional value of foods they serve to help consumers make more informed choices." |

 | | | | | | | I can understand wanting people to eat healthier but this is crazy. So, if I put a little salt on my food I can get arrested or fined for putting a little flavoring on my food? |
| | |
|
 | | | | | | | I hear a fine of up to $1,000 per offense levied against restaurants; nothing yet about individuals. Probably won't happen until the New York State Food Police and Superintendent are in place. Rep Ortiz might look good in a uniform - Heh! |

|
 | | | | | | | When will these idiotic politicians stop trying to impose a nanny state upon us? The government continues to get involved in the lives of private citizens when it has no right. |
