Looks like a lot of this is coinciding with the February 11 date and the "shocker for the West" being touted by Iran.

Technically they are nuclear power capable for energy purposes, but not yet for weapons...supposedly.

Just this morning while watching "Morning Joe" on MSNBC I heard Mort Zuckerman, chairman and editor in chief of U.S. News & World Report and publisher of the New York Daily News say that he has met with all the heads of state of every Middle Eastern country and they all name Iran as their biggest threat, not the United States.

Yet, they do nothing about it and it appears that religion once again may trump common sense and politics.

They are willing to let the United States beat its brains out trying to deal with a lunitic while they sit back and do nothing that might create a religious reaction in their own countries.

Zuckerman went on to say that these leaders also acknowledge that Iran is doing its best to destabilize their country by promoting internal dissent and revolution.

Go figure.

That's an interesting story, Tpaine. I can understand the dilemma the leaders face. Everything related to religions is always sensitive and complicated. If they can't take any action themselves, at least they should support the US's efforts to deal with Iran regarding this matter.

Clearly something needs to be done, nuclear capability should not be in the hands of a man who said publicy the Holocaust never happened. And if the U.N. actually is the one to do it I don't know what I will do with myself. Because honestly what does the U.N. do again........

They announced that they are at 20% nuclear capability, which isn't the level for weapons grade uranium. The technical jump to get to weapons grade is not that far away for them. This wasn't a big surprise as we knew they were headed in this direction anyway, but the US, UN and Isreal need to have a plan to address this threat.

Weapons grade is 90% I believe...but are they telling the whole story?

Actually, I am surprised it took them this long to announce them. Iran has been trying so hard to upstage the West, and now they announce 20%. I wonder if they took some shortcuts to get to this level? They would be boasting more if they had it.

You are probably correct. Israel will eventually make a stand against Iran on this. It's going to be ugly.

After reading more of the Iran nuclear claims, I do think they have more capacity than what they are telling the public. The idea of this madman having his finger on a nuclear weapon is incredible scary.
